James Rock
Film Editor
Aspiring film editor with a deep-rooted passion for the craft, solid grasp of pace/tone and a keen eye for storytelling.
Having started out making music videos in the early 2000s using Windows Movie Maker, I soon became hooked on the art of editing, and it's remained a firm passion of mine ever since. When I later transitioned away from the dark ages of basic linear editing and over to Final Cut, my interest only deepened.
That said, for the last 15 years or so I've been working as a freelance software developer, as such, I have no official credits to my name as of yet — I do however have a series of edits made from a combination of stock footage and select BBC programming available on my Vimeo page at...

Coding's never really felt like my calling in the same way editing always has, hence why I'm now looking to land my first official editor role — although, quite understandably, taking a punt on someone such as myself may be considered risky. To that I say, everyone has to start somewhere, and I certainly wouldn't be pushing for this if I didn't think/know I was capable.
I'm familiar with Premiere Pro, Media Composer and Final Cut — with a strong preference for Final Cut — and mostly drawn to feature films, scripted television, comedy and drama — although I wouldn't necessarily rule-out any specific genre.
Currently based in Nottingham, I'm very much set on moving back towards London as and when the opportunity arises — I'm equally happy working either on-site or remotely, with my very capable iMac Pro and MacBook on hand.
If you managed to reach this far, thanks! I do hope you'll consider me for your next production.
